| Located just
a few kilometers south of Barcelona, this wonderful
beach resort is full of great restaurants, sights,
beaches. It has the feel and look on a Mediterranean
resort town (which it is). It feels more like France
than Spain. Easily accessible by car or train, it only
takes a few minutes (30 to 45 depending on traffic) to
be there. You can spend the day at the beach, eat at one
of many sea side restaurants and then go back to
Barcelona |

TARRAGONA |

This city is approximately
90 kilometers south of Barcelona. It was at one point an
important Roman enclave (dating back to the days of the
Roman empire). There you can visit many Roman ruins
reminiscent of those found in Rome (including a
coliseum, pretori. And the amphitheater) . The train
departs from the station located at SANTS and PASEO DE
GRACIA.

FIGUERAS and GERONA

| FIGUERAS
is north of Barcelona (in the province of Gerona). In
this city you will find the SALVADOR DALI museum, noted
Catalan surrealist. GERONA (capital of the
province of Gerona) is located next to FIGUERAS
(same trip). Here you will find excellent architecture
such as the cathedral and an important Jewish
neighborhood.

COSTA
BRAVA
Unlike the visit to the cities mentioned above,
Costa Brava is best enjoyed by car (even though the
traffic can be pretty severed during summer months).
Costa Brava is that part of Spain commencing about
50 kilometers north of Barcelona and continuing to
French border. The beauty of this area is its
geography and the many small villages you will find
along nestled in small coves along the coast. Some
of these villages have become important tourist
attractions such as Palamos, Sant Feliu, Blanes,
Roses, Begur and Cadaques.

MONTSERRAT
This place is perched up on a tortuous mountain top.
Founded by Benedictine monks in the XI century this
monastery is impressive for its religious fervor
dedicated to Santa Maria de Montserrat patron of
Cataluna. It also houses important works of art by
Picasso, El Greco, Caravaggio, Degas, Monet, etc. To
get there you will need to take a train from at the
station at Plaza Espana (Zone 3) and envetually
transfer to cable car to get to the top. It is also
accessible by auto. You will need to make
reservations to visit the monastery by calling 93
